Lenovo Yoga Tablet: 8 and 10-inch Android tabs integrate stand, promise a ‘better way’ - ( 53L385 )

Lenovo had been promising a “better way” of using your tablet and the result is the Lenovo Yoga Tablet, a tablet that comes with its own hinged stand.

Lenovo took to the stage at a launch event in Milan, parelleled with an event in Los Angeles starring Lenovo’s “new employee” Ashton Kutcher, to introduce a new design of Android tablet.

The “better way” comes down to a rounded edge, which makes the Yoga Tablet a multi-mode device, just like the company’s other Yoga products. In this case, Lenovo is touting three ways of using the tablet: hold mode, tilt mode and finally stand mode.

One glimpse at the tablet will reveal how this is achieved, the rounded edge incorporating a larger battery, promising 18 hours of use, as well as acting as a hinge for the integrated stand.

The “hold mode” was described as being inspired by holding a magazine, echoing the sort of sentiments we heard from Sony at the launch of the Sony Tablet S in 2011, who at the time said it was inspired by a folded newspaper.

Launching on Android 4.2.2, it comes with an interface that’s been slightly tweaked by Lenovo. Internally you’ll find a 1.2GHz MTK quad-core processor with 1GB of RAM. There’s 16GB of internal memory, along with a microSD card slot for expansion, neatly tucked around the back.

On the rear is a 5-megapixel camera, with a front-facing 1.6-megapixel snapper for all your selfies and video calling.

There will be two sizes of Lenovo Yoga Tablet available, an 8-inch model and a 10-inch model, offering the same design and modes of use, but providing two price points: €229 and €299 respectively. Both models offer a 1280 x 800 pixel resolution.

The Lenovo Yoga Tablet will be launching across Europe in November.
